Health Tip #2: Do Dishes as You Go

Personally, I like to do my dishes by hand; I tend to use the same dishes day in and day out because I cook for one person, so waiting for the dishwasher to be full, run it, and putting them away doesn't really work for me. I like to wash my dishes by hand and use the washer as a drying rack.

However, I noticed that it's kind of unmotivating for me to cook when I think about doing dishes. It's like that moment when you think you're done scrubbing the last pan and you turn around and there is a huge pile of more dishes that need to be done. Nope, not doing it.

For me, if I use a dish, and then immediately wash it, rather than sticking it in the sink, it doesn't feel like I'm really washing that many dishes. There's no huge pile of dishes after I eat, and it keeps me motivated to continue to cook homemade meals, instead of microwaving something or going out to eat.

I think maintaining a clean kitchen, and one that you feel in control of, is an important way to keep yourself healthy and motivated to cook!
