Company | New Shoes

Friday, April 10th

I have realized that what I value almost more than anything else is company. I am quite independent, and do well on my own for a bit but after awhile I begin to become very anxious and angsty, and really just need to be around people, have conversation, or just do our own thing while in each other's company.

This afternoon, I am sitting at Vintage Heart Coffee, my favorite place in Austin, and just working on some homework while enjoying a latte with my boyfriend while he reads. It's relaxing and I think I am far more motivated to get things done when there's someone near me. Maybe it is because I grew up in such a large family, but just the feeling of having people around you is comforting and really relaxes my mood and my soul.

This week has been quite a rollercoaster; tests and group project meetings had me a little on edge. Last night, I tabled for KUSA at an event that an Asian sorority hosted near the gymnasium called "World's Unite" where different Asian cultures came together and just kind of celebrated culture. It went alright, though it was kind of busy for me.

Afterwards, my boyfriend surprised me with new shoes - Nike zenji's. They apparently just came out yesterday, so I'm one of the first to own them and they are absolutely perfect. I was really surprised and it cheered me up a lot after kind of an annoying week.

My friend Michelle also surprised me this week with a new highlighter; I've never used a highlighter before so I was really excited to try it and it definitely brightens up my eyes when I use it! I really love the color - it's like a champagne, and it's super pretty. I felt really loved receiving these gifts so randomly.

Tonight, I think I am going to see a free screening of a new movie but I'm not exactly sure if I am or not...we'll see...

Tomorrow, my sister is coming to visit me and I'm currently coming up with places to take her; the weather is unfortunately going to be pretty bad so I can't go to the park with her son like I had hoped we would, but I'm sure I can find something fun for us to do - or a nice place to get brunch.
